Covid-19 Over 75 Distribution Plan

The Town of North Kingstown has been advised by the Rhode Island Department of Health that it will be receiving 130 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, to be provided to senior residents, 75 and older, on Sunday January 31 and Wednesday February 3rd.

The Town of North Kingstown has been advised by the Rhode Island Department of Health that it will be receiving 130 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, to be provided to senior residents, 75 and older, on Sunday January 31 and Wednesday February 3rd. The location of the medication distribution will be the South Road Elementary School 1157 South Road South Kingstown. This is a regional site for North Kingstown and surrounding towns. Under the guidance of the Department of Health, the town will be using the Rhode Island Special Needs Registry database to schedule appointments. RESIDENTS ON THE REGISTRY WILL BE CONTACTED VIA TELEPHONE BETWEEN JANUARY 28TH AND FEBRUARY 2ND TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. Once all residents on the special needs Emergency Registry have been immunized, the town will identify residents over the age of 75, using databases including voter registration, senior housing, and senior center membership.

As the Town receives additional doses in the coming weeks, residents 75 and older will be contacted, via telephone, to schedule an appointment. COVID VACCINATION UPDATE

Effective Monday, February 22, 2021 the Rhode Island Department of Health will be opening vaccination registration to individuals 65 and older at a State-run site. These sites are located at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence and Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston. To register to be vaccinated at one of the State-run sites, please visit www.VaccinateRI.org. to register. People who cannot register online can get help by calling the automated line at 844-930-1779. The State’s call center will be open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and weekends from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The Town of North Kingstown continues to schedule vaccinations for individuals 75+ only. We have been advised by the Department of Health to refer individuals under 75 to the State portal to schedule their appointment at a State-run site.
Our staff at the North Kingstown Senior Center is available to assist you. Please call 294-3331 ext. 405 or 401 if you have any questions or if you have received your vaccination at a different location so we may remove you from our application list.

Walgreens (www.Walgreens.com/ScheduleVaccine or call your local Walgreens pharmacy) as they continue to provide vaccinations by appointment also.
Because there are multiple ways to get a vaccine, RIDOH encourages people to only schedule an appointment in one place so that all eligible people can get vaccinated as quickly as possible.

VACCINE UPDATE - FEBRUARY 5, 2021
We've successfully provided the 130 doses allocated to us from the Department of Health to those eligible residents ages 75 and over. Thank you to everyone who assisted in this process.

North Kingstown has been advised by the State Department of Health that we will be provided with 720 doses over the next 8 weeks. These doses will continue to be administered at our Regional POD at South Road Elementary School, 1157 South Road, South Kingstown, RI. If you have registered on our website, our Senior Center staff will be contacting you for an appointment as the vaccines become available.

It will take some time for everyone who wants a vaccine to schedule appointments and get vaccinated. The 720 doses provided to us by the Department of Health is approximately 25% of our town’s 75+ population. Please be patient. You will have an opportunity to receive a vaccine. The three main ways people will be able to get vaccinated are in their city or town, at pharmacies, or at a State-run vaccination site.

This weekend (2/6 & 2/7), some CVS and Walgreens stores will begin registering people who are ages 75 and older for vaccinations. You must have an appointment to get vaccinated at these locations.

You can book Walgreens appointments starting as early as February 7, 2021. Visit www.Walgreens.com/ScheduleVaccine or call your local Walgreens pharmacy.

We encourage you keep an eye out on all available options in order to ensure timely vaccinations. In the meantime, The Town of North Kingstown will continue to do all we can to receive the maximum amount of doses possible, process those doses expediently and ensure that ALL residents of North Kingstown are vaccinated.

The Town of North Kingstown has made all its appointments for the limited 130 doses of vaccines the State Department of Health has provided us. Regretfully this limited dose is not close to the almost 3,000 75+ residents we have here in North Kingstown.

We are hoping and expecting additional doses soon. We await further information and instructions from the R.I. Department of Health relative to this additional supply. In the meantime, please sign up for a future vaccination by clicking on the link below “COVID-19 Application Form”. Please call the Senior Center at 268-1590 if you need assistance applying.

As the Town receives doses of the vaccine, residents 75 and older will be contacted, via telephone, to schedule an appointment. Upon scheduling your appointment, we will provide instructions including the location for the vaccination. This is a fluid situation, and the Town asks for the public’s patience. We are committed to ensuring our entire population is vaccinated and await requirements and information from the Department of Health and Federal Officials.
