    --- Reopening of Government Offices---

As we begin Summer and approach the 4th of July Holiday, I hope this message finds you and your families safe and well. These have been challenging times and our thoughts and support go out to members of our community who have lost someone they care about due to COVID or have experienced the effects both economically and physically of this Pandemic.

While business-as-usual continues to be disrupted for many Rhode Islanders, we are doing all we can in North Kingstown to move forward in reopening. This could not take place without the hard work, dedication, vision and contributions from the employees of North Kingstown. On behalf of a grateful community, I thank them!

I encourage our residents and businesses to be kept up to date by visiting our website and our Social Media Platforms. I encourage our residents to sign up for Code Red as it is a great tool for us to notify everyone of important items. And I encourage our business community to use our viewpoint application process for assistance in reopening.

Our parks, playgrounds, town beach and golf course all remain open. We have hired additional personnel to regularly maintain and clean our public restrooms at all of our public facilities. Please continue to adhere to the Social Distancing guidelines.

The Town’s Transfer Station is open and fully operational. The Library continues to gradually open under a limited basis as they have begun limited in-house services. I encourage you to visit their website.

The Senior Center remains closed as it is currently functioning as our Food Distribution Center. Due to the Center servicing our most vulnerable population, we are hoping for some health guidance on reopening in some manner soon.

Regretfully, we have been required to cancel our 4th of July Fireworks Display and Celebration. We are looking into the possibility of rescheduling the display for a celebration during Labor Day Weekend. We will be sure to keep you up to date.

--- Opening of Government Offices! ---

First, a reminder that the Municipal Office is closed Friday, July 3rd in recognition of the 4th of July Holiday on Saturday.

The “by appointment only” restriction for the Municipal Office Building will be lifted on a limited basis beginning Tuesday, June 30th. The Municipal Office Building will be open to visitors wishing to do business within our individual departments from 12:30 – 4:30 beginning the 30th.

There will be a greeter stationed at the entrance of the Municipal Office Building. Every visitor will be asked to sign-in and provide information and will then be given a visitor’s badge and direction to the office they are looking to visit. Visitors will be required to wear a mask as will all employees servicing the public. If a visitor is unable to wear a mask, special arrangements will be made to insure he/she is able to be accommodated. Everyone will be encouraged to maintain a safe distance of 6 feet or more from others.

We continue to encourage everyone to utilize our virtual and online services whenever they are able to. We are also asking all visitors, and employees, to refrain from visiting the Municipal Office Building if they are sick.

North Kingstown has been at the forefront in doing all we can to pivot from the “closure” required by the State due to COVID-19 to the reopening necessary for the economic survival of our business owners as well as the social and mental health benefits that all residents are deserving of with a reopening. I hope this information is helpful and we look forward to assisting you in any way possible during these challenging times.

    Thank you

    A Ralph Mollis
